Basic Oils from Basal Basics contains all natural sustainable wild Krill oil, vitamin E and Ubiquinol.
The capsules are easy to swallow and do not cause an unpleasant aftertaste.
This oil extract is derived from the Antarctic Krill, also known as Euphausia superba.
Interestingly, the word “krill” is Norwegian and means small fry of fish, but Krill are not fish. Krill are small, shrimp-like crustacean with big black eyes and a reddish, semi-transparent body. Like fish oil, Krill oil contains a high percentage of Omega-3 fats. However, Krill oil differs from fish oil.
In Krill oil, the majority of the EPA and DHA omega-3s are bound to phospholipids. In contrast, other marine oil omega-3s have EPA and DHA bound to triglycerides, the form of fats the body uses for energy — a form that is also stored as body fat for future energy needs. When compared to fish oil, the utilization of Omega-3 EPA and DHA is 121% higher when the fatty acids are bound as phospholipids.
DHA is beneficial for well functioning brain activity and eyesight. DHA and EPA contribute to the normal function of the heart.
Krill oil contains omega-3, phospholipid and choline, well protected by wild/natural astaxanthin. Astaxanthin is found in the algae the Krill eat and is responsible for the red pigment present in these little crustaceans. The role of astaxanthin is to act as an antioxidant, protecting the valuable omega-3 phospholipids. Since Krill are low in the food chain, they don’t accumulate heavy metals and contaminants to the degree that other marine species do.
The Krill oil used in Basic Oils is the Superba 2™. In collaboration with the World Wide Wildlife Funds, the fishing method used by The Aker BioMarine for the Superba 2™ , is ecologically sustainable. The trawling system is continuously submerged and a hose gently brings the krill on board the vessel, reducing the risk of by-catch of other species to almost zero. The Antarctic Krill Fishery operates only within a small area of the Southern Ocean, called Area 48. Within this area, the CAMMLR (Commission for the Conservation of Antarctic Marine Living Resources) has set a catch quota of 1% of the total biomass which makes it one of the most precautionary in the world, ensuring the sustainable replenishment of stocks. In comparison, many other fisheries are considered sustainable with a catch quota of 10%.
Vitamin E is a group of eight fat soluble compounds that include four tocopherols and four tocotrienols.
Vitamin E acts as an antioxidant and aids in the protection of cells against free radical triggers like UV rays, environmental aggressors, pollution, cigarette smoke, and toxins.
EVNol SupraBio™ is a tocotrienol/tocopherol complex is a patented and bio enhanced tocotrienol system developed to increase the absorption of each individual tocotrienols up to 300% in a consistent manner. It is a non-GMO product and contains a natural occurring mixture of alpha-, beta-, gamma, and delta-tocotrienols and tocopherol extracted and concentrated from virgin crude palm oil.
Coenzyme Q10 is an antioxidant that your body produces naturally. Your cells use CoQ10 for growth and maintenance. Levels of CoQ10 in your body decrease as you age.
Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) exists in three redox states, fully oxidized (ubiquinone), partially reduced (semiquinone or ubisemiquinone), and fully reduced (ubiquinol). The redox functions of ubiquinol in cellular energy production and antioxidant protection are based on the ability to exchange two electrons in a redox cycle between ubiquinol (reduced) and the ubiquinone (oxidized) form.
Ubiquinol is an electron-rich (reduced) form of CoQ10. Basic Oils contains Kaneka Ubiquinol™, produced by the Japanese corporation, Kaneka. It is an easily absorbed, organic and stable source of ubiquinol. Kaneka spent more than a decade researching and testing this groundbreaking nutritional ingredient prior to launching it.
The Kaneka Corporation stands for safety, reliability, quality and purity.
